# Connection help

> Fix problems with sign-in, access, files, and tasks that stop responding.

Check that you have [access to Watchdog MCP](/guides/mcp), that the server address is correct,
and that the connection uses **Streamable HTTP** and **OAuth**.

| Problem | What to do |
| - | - |
| You cannot sign in | Update the AI client and sign in again from its connection settings. Contact support if you are still stuck. |
| Access has expired or been removed | Sign in again. If access is still refused, check your membership and permissions in Watchdog. |
| You cannot make changes | Use the address ending in `/mcp`, not `/readonly`. Your organization role must also allow the action. |
| The client finds the wrong organization | Ask it to list your organizations again and use the correct ID. The organization open in your browser is not selected automatically. |
| You are asked to enable multi-factor authentication | Turn on two-step verification for your Watchdog account, then try again. |
| You are asked to wait | Wait for the time Watchdog specifies. Ask the client to send fewer requests at once. |
| Watchdog is temporarily unavailable | Wait a little and try again. If you were waiting for a change to save, check first whether it was saved. |
| Someone else changed the same record | Changes from an AI client aren't checked against edits made in the meantime: the last save wins. Ask the client to read the record just before changing it. |
| A file link has expired | Request a new link. Check first whether the file was already transferred. |
| The client cannot transfer a file | Upload or download the file in Watchdog instead. |
| An answer seems incomplete | Ask the client to read the remaining pages, or narrow the question to a shorter period or fewer records. |

## A task has started but has not finished

Ask for the task's status and check whether any parts failed. Watchdog accepting a task does
not mean it has finished. See [If the response never arrives](/guides/mcp/working-with-watchdog#if-the-response-never-arrives)
for more advice.

## Contact support

Include the AI client's name and version, the time, the organization, and the error message.
Add the request ID or task ID from the response if you have it, and say whether you use the
standard connection or `/readonly`.

Remove sign-in links, access tokens, file links, and sensitive document details from screenshots
and logs before sharing them.
