# Connect Claude Code

> Choose what Claude Code can do in Watchdog.

Check [availability and permissions](/guides/mcp) before setting up a connection.
These commands follow the [Claude Code guide](https://code.claude.com/docs/en/mcp).

## Connect

Run these commands to create one read-only connection:

```sh theme={null}
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user watchdog https://mcp.watchdog.no/mcp/readonly
claude mcp login watchdog
```

Sign in through your browser and approve access. `--scope user` makes the connection available
across your projects.

## Allow changes

Replace the existing connection with the standard address, keeping the same name:

```sh theme={null}
claude mcp remove --scope user watchdog
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user watchdog https://mcp.watchdog.no/mcp
claude mcp login watchdog
```

Sign in again, then reconnect so Claude Code refreshes the available actions.

## Check and disconnect

Use `/mcp` to inspect the connection, then try an [example task](/guides/mcp/working-with-watchdog).
With `claude mcp login watchdog --no-browser`, paste the return URL into the terminal when asked,
never into a conversation.

To remove the connection, run `claude mcp remove --scope user watchdog`.
See [Disconnect](/guides/mcp#disconnect) for how to cancel the access itself,
or [connection help](/guides/mcp/troubleshooting).
